    Ar ekta jinis mathay rakha dorkar... ekjon singer ar ekjon instrumentalist-er modhye amader deshe akash-patal difference. Reputation bol, taka bol... kono tulona hoyna... (except in few cases of bands). Tui talent hunt competition-gulor kotha bolchis, over 99% talent hunt competitions on TV, radio etc are for vocalists. Competitions like Rock Idol, Band-e-mataram are very very few. Tao ei je Superfuzz Bigmuff mtv rock idol jitlo, kojon oder album kinbe? Kotai ba show korbe je shudhu oi assignment-ei ora pet chalabe? They also must pursue other jobs or be a session musician. Tai eisob talent hunt-er bhorsay thakis na.

    Manchhi amar eisob kothay hoyto tui frustrated hoye porchis, but I'm only drawing you the real picture man. Er byatikrom nischoi achhe... ami moneprane chai je tui musician hisebe quite successful hoye ja... kintu jodi onyo kichu hoye jai, there'd be trouble.

    also to add ... most of the talent hunts for musicians (example channel [V]) .outright sux ......... coz there were far better musicians but the criteria for being selected was not whether u r good @ music ... rather the criteria was whether or not u could dance, how good u wud look while infront of the camera and other bullshit stuff

    Guys i have to say somthg about this issue, i think u should not ignor anything, i was a student of a reputed college 1996 batch, and i was in to music to,we had a band during school and college and we have won many competition includin IIM fest but we parted because we had to search for our livlihood.in 92 93 music was not a good career option and bangla rock was non exiting except for cactus and ahbilasha rest were all english cover band eccept krosswindz were doin english originals.so what i want to say is don't neglate your studies so that you should always have a back up plan.take example of sidhu da he is a docter and a very good student he topped his mbbs and rupam is also a good teacher. gabu, sanket, sayak, debaditta , baji r all from south point and then xaviers .sandip use to work for a reputed ad. agency. chandra is an engineer so most of the guy were good in studies and music too. i know all these guys because i was a ex-musician. so rock on guys but study too.
    peace

    @peaceful, nicely put. :beer:

    Ei jaygay ektu maante osubidha holo boss. Sidhu topped his mbbs? where? when? Sidhu was a below-average MBBS student of CNMC. He got three supplimentories in his five years. And as far as I remember, he dropped his final MB.
    I am not criticizing him. MBBS is a tough game. Ekhane onyo kono involvement chole ele porashona-r khoti howatai swabhabik. I'm just stating the facts.
