They're the same thing, the Zoom G2.1u is the more advanced version (better sampling = better effects). Go for it.

^ I would agree. I would much rather just buy a nice Distortion pedal and delay/reverb/chorus (As per requirement). Unless you're looking to use a large variety of clean effects. Oh wait.. I guess you are. The zoom G2.1u should be better then. Although I'm not a big fan of the sounds that come out of it.
To a large extent. They don't carry your guitar's sound over much. Some of the effects are bad. The expression pedal on the Zoom is bad. The drive (distortion) options are mostly bad (for me at least). The build is also bad. The Zoom g2.1u has (supposedly) better effects, is definitely more rugged; but has a 2 digit display which is bad. I have a 707II. So there.
