    play guitar ..... instead of logging on IGT 24/7 ...... and telling them that you are working on guitar related stuff.
    let action speak.

    dude this is going to be very harsh ...

    dont take it personally or taht it is directed towards anyone in particular but as they say
    a person once makes his mind (usually in his youth) ...
    it is almost impossible to change his perceptions when he reached middle or old age ...

    You know what? If they start encouraging you to play the guitar, you'll lose your motivation in a few days!! :p: I know it's strange, but that's how it works! The more they discourage you, the more you'll fall in love with your guitar :rock:
    Don't take it to heart yaar!

    Stick up a huge poster of Prince in your room and dress up like him. Also immitate his behavior. You are sure to get a new guitar as a gift.

    The concept of Glam Band came from them.

    Kiss has a record too. Gene Simmons is the most influential bassist ever. Ranks way ahead than any bassist you might have ever know. Ace Frehley is the most influential guitarist ever. Kiss is the most influential band ever. There are more number of artists who took up music because of Kiss than all the other influential bands put together. Kiss had the record of breaking maximum guitars on stage.

    Check them out. Nice band. Rachael Bolan bassist of Skid Row calls them Heavy Metal Beatles.. Infact the entire band Skid Row was heavily influenced by Kiss. Rachael Bolan saw the cover of Kiss Alive after hearing it and wanted to be the person who was on the cover. It turned out to be Gene Simmons the bass player, so Rachael Bolan wanted to become a bassist. Talk about influence man ...... :beer:
