Try buying Electric Guitar first. You will get a good feel and its easy on your fingers. Different people may have different view. It changes from individual preference. I found it much easy to learn electric guitar. I got an acoustic first but then switched to electric within few weeks.

Asking a noob to start up on electric???? Rarely people do dat.... To get the feel n train yr fingers get a good acoustic first... U can get a decent one fr 3.5-6k.

well 'distorted' i am really learning it the WRONG WAY. Coz i am all alone in my war. Somehow learning by reading books (Guitar for dummies). By profession i am a computer programmer which makes it difficult to find time. I started learning late so i have no hope for playing in college bands/fests etc. I feel more comfortable in electric than acoustic but honestly i have both so i practice the same moves on both. During my college days i worked for 6 years in a sound studio and trust me i have met quite a few who learnt by electric....

Chill dude. No Probs... For me guitar is a challenge which i cannot loose. I have to WIN. I will do all it takes to learn and play on stage in the next 5 years. Be it Acoustic or Electric. ;)
