Ok Guys such threads have been made before "which guitar shud i buy"..never mind..herez another ;)

Its been a few months over 1 year since im learning guitar and i've been chalaofying my kaam with a Givson 125 but now..ah! i guess i cant take it anymore..its a stupid 12 fretted guitar. Well..not that i'd dump it but i can get a better guitar side by side

So guys im more of an acoustic person...suggest me a good semi-ac guitar. it should be a slick looking one..(wid pick ups..if ever i wanna connect) but i'll not be buying amps until next year. my budget cant go over 3-4k

im surely gonna buy it aftr my eggjams..better start collectin money!..also suggest if i shud buy from bharat or sumwhr else?

carlton and bd ( https://www.givson.com/products6.htm ) look good...but givson again..any idea? how much they'd cost

note: im reminding..im not buying amps..but just wanna buy a pick up wala guitar just in case i buy amps later, which im not sure about.

can i play guitars like bd& carlton^^ without connecting the pickups?

Incidentally, on the givson homepage theres this super snazzy RG-type guitar with cool paint and all..theyve never built a model like that in a hundred years! Bleddy marketing buggers...

    1. Abhijitnath - thats very rude comment to your marketing brethen :p :p :p

    2. Vini - unless you are going in for the semi-electric (Jazz players use it quite often - Eric Johnson in "Manhattan" etc) here , I dont see much point in getting pickups on acoustic guitar.

    3. U mentioned, u wish to go for amplifier next year. So is it that u are looking forward to electric guitar sound? If taht is the case, your acoustic wont give that sound.

I guess she wants to be able to play the guitar without the amp at home as well and stuff and hence wants a semi of some sort. The BD has almost zilch nplugged sound...its just chambered and you can play some degree of rock on it. Dunno about the Carlton...btw it is quite possible to play harder rock on archtops or ES-335 type guitars...checkout Johnny A.
P.S. i detest marketing..I fled far and wide from it all the time:)

    ^ OK :p
    You from commerce ---> Finance.

But still if she really wants amplified sound from acoustic, she can fit microphone.

Nahin yaar...it'll sound different...the acoustic/mike things sounds completely different from a semi with a center block on which mag pickups are fitted...less feedback and a more rounded sound.
i did eco and now a very fin job, yes:).

What??? Eh there is a point .. of course there is .. how will u perform on stage without a pic up .. mic doesn't give dat effect ..

As if U have never seen any artist perform on stage with acoustic guitar which is amplfied via microphone.

Even Hetfield does it for Unforgiven (Acoustic intro)

I may agree with Abhijit though; however, I always felt taht using a pickup - u will color the natural tone of teh guitar, whereas the microphone will "pickup" teh most origianl tone.

Feedback n howls are good enuff reason for pickups. Agreed.

^^^of course i've seen it man .. but their guitars n mics are of dat quality .. n u know wat quality .. so i basically prefer pick up .. :) freedom of choicE :p:

plus u can strum wid different styles movin da guitar here n there .. n stuff :p:

No i dont really want amplified sound. I might not even buy an amplifier. But might connect to my pc only..that would do!
And i just want the guitar to have pick up..dont want an electric as i already said!

I forgot to mention..im just into rhythm guitaring and lil bit of leads. if that would help u guys to suggest me a good guitar now.

^ Then no point wasting money on pickups. Use microphone whenever the need arises to amplify the volume.

Cryptic_angel may help. She has a new acoustic guitar.
