i dont know exactly wat it is.. but i figured out this much... lets say u make a row with C E G.. ull get the first colun with the same interval downwards... example C -> E is 4 semitones. then ull get G#/Ab below the C which is 4 semitones below... so the row is a list of intervals and the columns give the inversions of those intervals (ok not techincally an inversion - but can e called one)
it jsut does wat i describd and puts these ntoes in rows and columns... the tone row uselect is a list of notes... these are related t eah other by certain intervals.. (not major7th, etc... but number of semitones they are apart)... the columns simply invert this relation and write out the notes.. i dont know wat the purpose of this is.. but thats wat it does...
