help? Hi, i am a newbie at the guitar as well as i learned from a pro ages ago and am totally out of practice. Do you know how to read/play notes/tabs? If not then im sure you can search on this forum on the matter but if you can then i advise learning scales first to strengthen your fingers and to get them used to the guitar. While reading them, the highest line is the thinnest string and the number is what fret you should put your finger on to play that note on the string. The rest you should hopefully be able to figure out yourself. My guitar teacher thought I knew how to play basics (which i really didn't) and went straight on with it but i managed fine at that time. What type of guitar do you have? If you have acoustic like me, your fingers will probably hurt when you start but you can get used to it eventually. Electric is a lot lot easier to play though. Here is a scale to help you start off: This is the C major scale (do, re, me, fa, so, la, te, do) E-------------------- B-------------0-1---- G---------0-2-------- D---0-2-3------------ (0 means play the string without your finger on any fret) A-3------------------ E-------------------- Hope this helps and pros, feel free to correct me as i am not a skilled guitarist either. For, more help, can you please tell me what you can and can't do on the guitar. Aishu
Yes aishu is bang on with the C scale, but to understand the C scale, you first need to know about chromatic notes, and where they are placed on te guitar fret board. If you please tell us something more about your level of guitar skills It would be much more helpful.
Get started with the basics Hi Vinay, Not sure as to how much you know about guitar already. But I would recommend you to get started from the basics Below is a link to some online video tutorials which you can get started with - it is pretty comprehensive https://www.torrins.com/Music/Guitar/BeginnersSeries/index.html
