In this thread, you recommend movies to other people...because I am bored. I watched Almost Famous yesterday. It's about...well, I'm not sure. I think it's about an era that a lot of people tried to cling on to without realizing what it was that made it special. Anyway, the plot involves an unpopular, shy 15-year old getting a chance to write for the rolling stones, goes on tour with an upcoming band and finds out things about himself and the people he idolizes (and does not idolize). It is, above all, a story of heartbreak. I think it's a great watch for everyone. It's got a great soundtrack and Kate Hudson makes life seem worth living. Interestingly, the movie also has Zooey Deschanel who I would've thought of as equally well suited to play Kate's role. Almost Famous (2000) - IMDb
August Rush.. i love the kid..the story is very inspirin and the music is awesome.. Torque.. zooooooooommmmmmmmm .. !! hangover.. hehehe..nice one time watch..its engagin and funny.. and most recently..in bollywud..rockstar..
It might get loud, great movie for guitarists. And American History X. Great intense movie. American History X (1998) - IMDb The Prestige. Great cast, oscar winning. And if havent watched it yet Fight Club. starring Brad Pitt.
The Prestige is a sh*t movie, hyped without reason. and why is American History X for guitarists? unless you've done a cocktail of 10+ drugs at once there's no connection between them.. and fight club? c'mon man you can do better than that haven't seen almost famous, though i plan to but i keep putting it off. the three movies fans of all movie genres should watch are: Apocalypse Now (forgot which year) The Wicker Man (1973) Scent of a Woman (1992)
the best movie i have seen so far was "Digging to China". (fine its not about some musician or a band) the movie shows the beauty of selfless emotions and it shows innocence at its best.
@ morbid i was talking about It Might Get Loud(this is the title of the movie), being great for guitarists, it features The Edge(u2), jimmy page and jack white. American history X is no way related to guitar. The Prestige isnt that bad!! And i absolutely adore Fight Club. And i forgot Michael Clayton another great movie. So is Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind. Shawshank Redemption another one to watch. American Psycho. Munich Pulp Fiction if Tarantino is your thing. The Sixth Sense
@ morbid The Prestige is Epic Dude!! Want another one? District 9 District 9 (2009) - IMDb Rock-a-films: Airheads(adam sandler) Airheads (1994) - IMDb Rock Star(jennifer aniston) Rock Star (2001) - IMDb
I've seen all of them(except digging to china :tongue2 could someone suggest some really good movies which arent popular as such anyway into crazy comedy? Sacha Baron Cohen: Borat Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan (2006) - IMDb Ali G Ali G Indahouse (2002) - IMDb
La Bamba The Pianist Walk The line I love all 3 of them.... and also Crazy Heart .. Good music in all of them...
Nah i dont think think 4 lakh people from different backgrounds and walks of life can be biased..... afterall the ratings are based on the ratings of the people.
hmmm but 50% are haters and fans which makes them biased... go through any star wars 1,2,3 review you'll see 1 star then ten then one again then ten again lol
I usually check for negative ratings. And then see the reason why negative rating was given. Which gives a better picture ( = whether the reason bothers you too, then stay away or lower your expectations) (Positive ratings are usually given by raving fanboi's whose opinions don't matter to me) Anyway, if its postive, then I'll form my own positive opinion.
I look at them not absolutely but it is a factor. Like i read the description, see the trailers, see the cast and consider the ratings. Also they are not exact for me, 8.3>7.9 not necessarily but 8.6>4.2 yeah i'll take 8.6. And also comparing apples to oranges makes no sense. Like consider a 9.9 rated musical and 6.4 rated thriller if you hate musicals in general then the 6.4 thriller will be better. But yeah the movies that i have seen from the top 250 list havent disappointed me so far.
