You already know that you're already one hell of a guitar electronics arch-mage; hone your production skills at F20 and soon you'll be a killer sound engineer too (you seem to be interested in that o_O).

Don't worry there will be a new breed of ppl who will take this forum up. (or they may gather somewhere else).

The fact about life is that most of the stuff is based on mob/herd mentality.
All you need is a seed, and catalyst. Few ppl will join in then ... and then seeing them many others will

^The answer to that has got to be advertising on FB, like Freq20.com.

    Who'll pay?

    Pool in?

Advertising? No need... People are always going to find IGT because it is in the top search results on google when you make searches about Indian gear or indian forum topics.

So noobs are gonna come here, it's the natural order of things... What alpha meant is probably related to the word of mouth effect.

I'm talking about the 'seed/catalyst' bit.

What do we have to offer? o_O
Or what can we make up to that effect?

if you need to commercially advertise your forum... YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG.

Agree... I mean doesn't that put a question mark on your whole motivation on starting the forum? If you want to make money, a forum is probably the worst idea for a commercial website...

In my view - the seed is the single person who takes up actively all (whatever pathetic/trivial) discussions are there in the forums.
Solves problems, probably thinks of somehow making the forum more visible to the outside world (by his good work).
He is an idealist, so he wouldn't bring the advertising aspect in.
He would become the admin (but later)

The catalyst is the coterie (which then becomes mods etc) - who propagate the views and ideals of this seed.
They may be more extreme version of this seed, or more casual - usually there is a good mix of both types.
These are the ones who would play around with ideas like advertising etc.
Also there is a healthy conflict among them - some would interpret the "seed"s intention in one way - other will in different way.

This gives a n00b chance to identify with one of them, but also holding the "seed" in awe.
Soon this n00b spreads the word (via his blog, other forums etc).
New n00bs flock ... and get converted.

And the funny idiotic thing about most living creatures in this world is that they believe that higher the number of ppl believing in something, means it must be really good/true.
So the movement gathers momentum, and more ppl join in.

There is nothing new in this approach - this is exactly how all religions/social movements have become popular.

Of course one cannot guarantee that you will succeed.

That's the most effort I've seen you put into an IGT post in a long time.

'course, I've always said, alpha1's word is good as gold.

Not seen the movie yet, still in "to do" list.
But frankly, what I wrote is what I observed in childhood seeing my religion, society and the foolishness of ppl following stuff (like codes, morals, ethics, standards etc)
