Now that I have slightly better equipment, I will (very slowly) be re-recording all my originals. Still mixing with hifi speakers, sadly.

    Equipment used:
    Washburn WI64D
    AudioTechnica AT2035 condenser
    Focusrite Scarlett 2i2
    Logic Pro 9.1
NSA custom series free drum samples

    Lyrics:
    Touch the dust
    With rain on my finger
    The mirror cracked and fell
    The memories still linger

    Images abound
    Night's fabric as it frays
    The deeper shades
    Colours seeping through the grey

    A waking dream
I'm walking hallways of my mind
    Round and round in spirals
I can hear the song in my ears playing
    The melodies
    They're calling out to me
    And they're saying

    Dawn breaks
    Radiance climbs
    As ripples touch the edge
    Troubled waters still with time

    A distant bell tolls
    Mist hanging in the air
    Silence resonates
    Vibrant in despair

    The bitter sun
The shadows seem to run and hide
    Fading like old scars
I can hear the song in my ears playing
    The melodies
    They're calling out to me
    And they're saying

    The waterfall
The rocks I see far down below
    Diving into depths unknown
I can hear the song in my ears playing
    The melodies
    They're calling out to me
    And they're saying

You know people are going to listen your stuff on hi-fi speakers only - not studio monitors.
So I don't believe that there is anything sad in you using your current speakers to do the mixing and mastering.

Besides, I hope you know the goal/aim of hi-fi and monitors is one and the same: to be as close to an ideal transducer as possible.

I do agree, I remember the story of the original Yamaha monitors, they were meant to reproduce terrible radio speaker quality sound. But I would like to have some reference of hifi speakers other than my own, to help the mastered track be as similar as possible across various transducers. As for mixing, I believe flat response (just close enough to it, not audiophile "quality") would be best to iron out kinks that will pose problems during mastering. From personal experience I know that what sounds good on my speakers/earphones can sound off on another set, so having a good initial mix is key.

Haven't you heard any of my tracks rickkkyrich? This is a re-recording, links to my music have been in my signature forever. Shame on you.
