REM, BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN and BRIGHT EYES are to tour the US together in a bid to promote political change in the country. The series of concerts planned will also feature Babyface, Jackson Browne, Dave Matthews Band, Death Cab for Cutie, The Dixie Chicks, John Fogerty, Ben Harper, Jurassic 5, Keb’ Mo’, John Mellencamp, My Morning Jacket, Pearl Jam, Bonnie Raitt, and James Taylor. These and other artists will appear on separate bills on the same night in selected cities around several battleground states, according to REM's official website remhq.com. Artists involved in Vote for Change will focus on states that are expected to have the closest race in the US presidential election battle. There will be 34 shows in 28 cities in nine battleground states over the course of a week. REM bassist Mike Mills said the band was "very happy" to be part of the tour, adding: "This unprecedented coming together of musicians underscores the depth of the desire for change in our country’s direction, and it feels right to use some of the freedoms granted to us in a democracy to try and effect that change."
