inlays can be created at home.there are various sites avalible on this topic.

and stickers are readily avalible. plus u can also get custom stickers made from any photo or picture.
it is sort of a tattoo
    costs approx 25-500 (inr)

Painting a guitar is a specialised job. First you'll have to strip the existing lacquer by sanding /melting it off. Then you prep the raw wood and paint it using spl. nitro lacquer or 2pac like car paint. You need to spray it. DON'T ATTEMPT IT WITHOUT SEEKING LOCAL ADVICE.

See stewmac.com and other luthiery sites.

Applying a decal sticker to make a custom headstock logo is easier as you can print it using a lazer printer, but may have to lacquer over it to make it look like a professional job.

If you're very adventurous and have afford to have your guitar messed up, you could remove the neck and pickguard (if you have a strat) and give it to a car garage to paint it. Don't know how it'll stand the test, cuz cars aren't painted to sound good. And in Indian weather, you need paint that will expand/contract with the wood in rains/heat etc....

ASK ME IF U HAVE ANY SPECIFIC QUERIES.

I painted my own guitar, trust me, it's not easy.

    Also, look at:

I've been meaning to put some up, and will shortly finish working on a little website showing the entire process of making a guitar.

I think you shouldnt test on guitars as they are delicate things which would really damage your tone & seasoned effect. Even rainy & summer seasons effect on the quality of the guitar tone, then wouldnt the paint? Simple.

And no person who really plays guitar well would compramise on the sound & tone, just for the look.

And no Lay person, would understand this concept.

So, if you really have to get a design on the guitar. Just get the Bitmap designed on your PC. Copy it on your Cell phone Mem card or CD, & get it printed on radium paper by the professionals who do Radium Cutting for Vechicle Numbers. they have really sensitive printers. You can also ask for Multiple colours (as you feel affordable), have a discussion on What you really want, with them & do it.

    I hope it helps.

Bro, I think, I understand a little bit about guitars and tones, which keeps me from running to car builders, thanks.

And about project guitar: I wanted some tips of how to do it using materials available in India
