Hey Rusty Great to see ur guitar. Hope everything is fine now. If the truss rod cover is missing make a new one from CD case. Regards, LUTHIER
Just a ques to all: why is the truss rod cover such an issue? Only for aesthetics or there is something far more sinister.
I think it gets dirty in there..and of course looks ugly. You don't actually need it for anything...eg the bullet truss rods on Fenders dont have covers but theyre shaped differently.
Truss rod covers are to cover up the 'khadda' as well as protect the nut head of the rod's screw inside from corrosion and rust. Always keep the nut slot oiled and the slot stuffed with felt or some other sealant. If the nut's slot gets rusty then no matter what u do the allen key will just eat up the walls of the slot and u will be left with no option but to remove the fretboard and replace the nut. So put the cover and play safe or PM me for any truss repairs or adjustments......... : The fender bullet head's were made of hardened and chrome plated steel so they would not corrode too much. Regards Luthier
hehe ...i have the truss rod cover...will put it today.... hey luthier...wat should i fill in the nut slot..wats felt?
Hmm I guess for felt u can use the one taht is similar to the one found in sketch pens refills, Soak it with some oil, that shoud keep the moisture n rust away.
Hey alpha thats a great suggestion too......wish i had thought about it. Hey rusty.....do not FILL oil in the slot.....just oil the head and cover it up or be very careful and drop some DROPS OF WAX in the ALLEN SLOT ONLY......that would keep everything away and out of it. Regards Luthier
