So anytime we have one day of nonstop rain our city gets submerged in water. How do you explain this to anyone?
You explain that you're lucky you're not in Bangalore, where it only takes 2 hours or so to submerge the place. Mumbai is reclaimed land, you can only do something when people stop chucking the wrong garbage in the wrong places.
All a case of blocked / undersized drainage. And reason? Simple; ppl are not assertive enough to check whether the govt/municipal bodies spend the money right. + the fact taht Bombay is getting huge rains. (which other cities are not) In reality the whole of india sux in this regard. Rather Indians that suck.
Well unfortunately Mumbai has more low lying areas so that's where Bangalore has an advantage. The irony is that Mumbai is at/below sea level whereas we are so far above it, and still areas get submerged. If Bangalore ever saw rain like Mumbai has been seeing, I shudder at the thought.
um, you people forget calcutta. Last week I had to have my breakfast in knee deep water right next to a garbage dump. The only difference is that I did not have internet to whine on.
