relation of tabs and chords well every chord has its own family for example in the family of major chord as tonic there are 7 chord ,and for any song any one of the chord can begin a song .its not needed for the first chord to be the tonic when a song is written the chord is assign according to the interval between each notes.if you want to want to find the chords of a song by simply looking at the tabs .man ,you will go crazy or need a computer with a good quality software for if you want to do it manually you will have to know the scales of all the chords of an tonic .and match them its better to listen the song and find out the base note and apply a suitable chord to the song then going the way you want to go
