    hello ppl

this is my general opinion. your's could vary......but i feel the current indipop scenario is pretty bleak. what you get to see these days on tv are these lissome beauties showing skin and all these frothy videos with little or nothing on the music front.......so whre do we get to see good music and meaningfull videos....these pakistani bands like strings, junoon, fuzon are ruling the roost as they offer us some quality stuff and good music.....so someone on this forum better pick up that guitar and start makin music that will end this draught!

The hindi music scene is more or less pathetic. Its turning out to be a sleaze fiesta with music videos trying to compete with each other in showing more skin. What is more concerning is the deteriation of music quality with majority of album released are re-mixes or dance music. Sometimes i feel that Indians do not know of any other genre than Pop and Techno. For Indians Rock music basically means anybody holding an guitar.

There are many many talented musicians in India but as there isn't any platform for them to venture into Indian music scene, they are lost. I think at least the music television company's should take some interest in this and try to promote amateur musicians.

In Pakistan, music channel are furiously promoting new rock bands and have successfully sold the concept of rock music. For this some reason rock music is much more accepted and appreciated there than here...its odd ...really ;)

I agree with neo. The music scene here sucks. Its more about skin than its about music. And everything that is released is a remix. Whats the use? We don't need anymore eyecandy, we want to hear some real music.

Same feelings here, guys. The last good song and meaningful video I saw from an indian band was parikrama's 'but it rained'. and these remixes drive me crazy... all these remix guys do, is take some popular hindi songs, put in some semi-nude models, just put in some beats and lo behold .... we have a remixed song which everybody likes. Man, don't these guys have any respect for the original artists who have performed the song ?

the rock scenario in india is real bad, here the concept of rock is just anything that is noisy, makes no sense, promotes violence and anti-socialism, and denounces indian culture... when will people realise that all these concepts are utter nonsense ?

Well, there is a noticable change shifting towards rock music in india... from what i noticed, the bangalore and new delhi scene is much much better than what i see here in singapore... It only needs to proper encouraging and the bands and musicians need to be given the opportunities they need... like neo said, the skin element must give way.

well , i think it works both ways , ...

some of the songs are really good , how many of you guys knew the original kaanta laga or saayi dil mein aana till they were remaked,..

i am not advocating that this is the best , but it has its own purpose , for all the partying ppl what choice do they have other then listening to remix pops in discos and pubs , point to be noted not everyone is a rock or metal lovers ,,.,.. many teens juss freaks on these kind of indipop songss.

these song are made with an intension of a very short peroid popularity which is soon replaced by another number , which keeps the business running ,..

  10. DUDE THIS IS WHAT KILLS MUSIC IN INDIA...
I AM A ROCK AND METAL FAN...DEFINTIELY... BUT I ALSO LIKE GOOD HINDI SONGS LIKE SAY AANE WAALA PAL,ZARA ZARA -rehna hain tere dil mein..and a whole bunch of good hindi tracks..the very concept of makin a song just for commercial saleability kills music and fills music labels pockets..and dude the remix of KAANTA LAGA was pathetic !!
its not abt the song not being rock or metal ..its abt GOOD MUSIC !!!!!!

bob, you pointed out that remixes are made with the aim of creating a short term impression on listeners and earn profit in the process. but, the way this objective is approached by the makers is really pathetic, man. Remixes have been a pretty old tradition in music, and some covers have been even better than originals. but in india this does not seem to be the idea at all. Remixes are just a plain mockery of the original tracks.

  12. I Would Also Like To Point Out That
Musicians Do Versions Of Songs..and Remixes Are Something That Djs Do..
And Everyone Here Will Agree That Djs Are Not Musicians !!!!!
Musicians Look At The Chord Progression ,the Melody, the Phrasing ,
And How They Can Add Parts To It..
Whereas Djs Just Add Some Different Beats And Some Techno Things To It..

I guess since there are no strip clubs in india (are there any? ) these music videos are the next best alternative.. everyoen does a strip tease tehse days on these videos.. have u guys seen musafir item bomb ? :) they even have a pole in the middle of the stage buhahahaha. gone are the days of bharatnatyam . nanganatyam is india's national dance these days :). my opinion is there is nothign wrong with the raunchy indian pop videos as long as there are other alternatives.. but in india there seem to be none.. thats the problem.. also the problem here is there arent any radio staions on fm.. there is just one or 2.. in usa there would be like 50 stations .. one catering to each genre... who watches tv for music in usa? no one.. i get most of my music from radio.. and that option is missing in india.. and since the masses are not exposed to good and diverse music they get influenced by the only genre thats thrust upon them in india and hence u have this fake pseudo-western culture prevelant here which doesnt resemble anything u see in the west.
The only good thing i see is that there is this strong fan following of carnatic music.. which is still very mainstream in the south. apart from that.. music is going down the drain.. someone needs to do something to change this trend.
    Jay
