i think about 80% of india's talent would be in vocals.. is that a fair assesment? how many are into playing music? how many are into composing? maybe i am totally wrong about this (i hope)
^^^^^^^^^^ after listening to indian ocean live...u'll know how wrong u r....they are all gr8 gr8 vocalists and musicians...hardworking..chk out their website too.. n parikrama is not famous just because they don't write hindi songs...
a bit late to join the bandwagon..... but the deal is v have the talent...its just the people....more than half of india still looks as rock as noise.....people here have a problem listenening to rock as music..... even tho my mom likes GNR.....she wudnt listen to it for too long.....and till the time people embrace rock...the good bands will have a hard time coming up.... what abt bands like agni ,sceptre..
i think india has got more and better rockers than pak, but the indian public is more interested in Hindi Film songs... if im not wrong... Note: this is jus a personal guess
how many indians pick up a guitar or anyother instrument and play it for recreational purpose at least? why aint there no demand in india for musical instrumental store chains like guitar center? more plasma tvs are sold in delhi than seattle.. thats what i realised when i last visited delhi.. why not guitars? or any other musical instruments, even indian?
@jay: care to give any links for indian rock....wanted to check it out as im completely oblivious about it.........
@jay1 one in 5 bangaloris play a musicial instrument? or one in five bangaloris u know play musical instrument? big difference u know.. for eg.. my friend from upstate new york came here and stayed for christmas.. he is convinced that seattle is the musical hub for the west coast :.. but thats only cause he stayed with me... and my friend circle is like that...
sure india has many rock bands , dun know much about the current ones .. but my time parikrama , agni , euphoria , indus creed surely rocked ,,... may be someone can advise some rocking rock bands as of now ...
oh, i realised i had forgotten to vote.. b'lore is sure the hub for indian headbangers. @venus, just google for parikrama or indian ocean...u'll find more links for indian bands on parikrama's website.
My friend's cousin is a correspondent for RSJ, and he introduced me to all the indian bands, i must say. And indian bands do rock dude, so do pakistani bands, such comparisons dont prove anything in my opinion.
in reference to strings - oh u cool kid.. really ?? even after songs like sar kiye and duur and other equally delightful songs. what do u call a band then ? perhaps which comprises u along with few other underpriviledged guys playing songs someone else made.
