I'm a Beginer and need some help...

    hello as far as guitar is concerned i'm just 3 weeks old in it...i'm facing some problems like- 1) wat should be my thumb position while i support my guitar...should it b horizontal or vertical to the neck...nd does thumb position affect guitar playing in any manner...2) while i strum while playing c major...more often than not i face a prob that i strum the wrong string..can any1 help me with this..?

    1. Thumb position should be what is comfortable to you at the moment of playing.
    With all fingers together it will be different compared to all the fingers flared away from each other.

    2. You need to control your right hand to strum correctly.

    play with the thumb beneath the fingerboard unless bending/playing hendrix style chords.

    This way you press the board down into your thumb when you press on the strings. You should never press down on the strings and have the board come into your palm- that's supposed to be bad form.

    ^ unfortunately most grunge style guitarist hold guitar exactly like that.
