Now i can paly some riffs and quite a few licks as well....but i dont yet k now how to start soloing....do i have to follow some scale??? :think:
I really reccomend some of the lessons they have up on www.ibreathemusic.com That's all I needed when I wanted to get into theory.
from my own experience .. 1) dont rush when doing solo .. people have tendency to give ll they have got in the first 15 seconds .. and then they either signal the drummer to mute and end the solo abruptly . or they keep playing around scales with no melody at all .. so i say .. take your time .. go easy .. keep the fireworks till last .. 2) think ahead: while doin solos always think ahead .. you know what you ARE playing .. think about what you will play next ..will it fit? is it in key? etc. 3) learn as many licks and riffs as you can .. and then try to make your own by using the patterns used in those licks ... 4) finally ... practice.
