Initailly u have to sing along the song.. and play guitar.. the key is u need 2 use ur feet so that u don't loose the rhythm.. atleast it helps me..

some good songs to try for that are..

    1> Pal by KK

2> take it easy by eagles

3> Neele Neele ambar pe by Kishore

4> Hoshwalon ko khabar - Jagjit..

tell me if my way helps u..

If you want to hear some of mine, go to the English guitar section and look for some of my recordings. However, prepare yourself for the weirdest combination of cacophonies you've heard in recent times.

play a C note of ur keyboard or any standard " A 440Hz" tuned instrument.

and sing that note..follow the same procedure for C# and D ..then just try to sing the C note without the help of the keyboard this time..and then play the C note on ur keys..and listen if u have hit the note..or how flat or how sharp u have gone.
do this excersice with all the notes..this will train ur ears..and also help ur vocals.

also try to sing scales along with the accompanied instrument and then without it.
    humm chromatic notes..if u can.

sing a lot of songs.sign along with the record .

and plz the stuff im sayin is not theory..just do it ..it will help u improve.
    my 2 bucks.

Try nothing else matters, first wid chords, then with tabs. Oh, and close ur ears and listen to ur voice... tune it to whomever's voice u want it to be.;)
