Can someone tell me what it means when somebody says "tune guitar half step down" I am new and have no idea. thanks
Normally, we tune the guitar using standard tuning i.e. eBGDAE (or EADGBe if you prefer). But in some songs you have tune your guitar half step down i.e. D#A#F#C#G#D# (from eBGDAE). To do this, first tune your E string to D# - press the thick E string on the 6th fret and then tune the E string with the A string (i.e. match the note of the E string on the 6th fret with open A string). Now your E string is tuned to D#. Now tune the other strings normally. :rule:
It's much faster and better if you use a tuner for this. By the way, this thread should be in the Beginner's Q&A Forum.
