nah, I don't tab. I just use GP 4 for the chord cycle so it plays for hours and I play over it....and I sometimes use the metronome.

I think the power tabs website was pulled down or something
part of the crackdown on guitar tabs

GP is teh coolest composer i have ever seen. I have learnt chords with the help of this sw (I don't have any teacher :cry1:. I pray that bjr teaches me :p:). Not only that, i also learnt how to tab, with the help of GP. Currently, I compose backing tracks, MIDIs, with it. Oh! I forgot!! It also taught me how to read Staff notation!! It has been my teacher cum friend cum personal assitant!!
EDITED:- I also tune my guitar with it :p:
    GP ROCKS!

do you make those chord cycles or do you download them from somwhere
or do you just practice over the rhythm track of a song

we make our own chord cycles. Atleast thats what all my friends and i do.

Depends...I usually just put 4 chords in a bar and repeat it infinitely.

If one of my e-friends is online, I ask him to make a track with 8 or 12 chords and a rythm section and he gives it back to me all done in like 10 mins or so.

I don't usually practice over rythm tracks but I've used a few backing tracks of pop and rock songs.

Otherwise, I just use audacity to record a rythm track and play over it.

First, I used to use Power Tab but it lacks the backing drums. I have GP4. GP4 does have some disadvantages over Power Tab like no 8va and you can't add effects to tied notes... GP5 has all this tho including a PTB import. Does any1 know where I can get GP5 in Bangalore? I REALLY NEED it!!!!

O yea... For kritsye, both Power Tab and Guitar Pro are tablature programs which allow you to compose and read files created for them. The cool thing is that you can actually play and in Guitar Pro, loop the song. It includes all the advanced musical stuff like timing, tempo, etc.
