I got introduced to carnatic music by two western musicians that adapted their styles to play carnatic music on electric guitar and electric bass guitar. Shawn Lane and Jonas Hellborg toured and recorded with the Vinayakram Bro's for a few years before Shawn's passing in 2003, and the music that they made was beautiful and compelling. "Good People In Times Of Evil" and "Icon" are two CD's that were recorded by Hellborg, Lane and the Vinayakram Bro's, as well as "Paris", a concert at the New Morning club in Paris, France, that was recorded and released on DVD.
