Dude the Pod HD300 has Better amp models than POD x3 and many other 'rackmounts'.

 

Seriously man. Stompboxes might have a small upper hand definitely but it isnt all the noticeable. And why waste a lot of money on stomps when you can get much more than that on a multieffect processor? Multieffects have amp models which are way different from stompboxes and you wont need stompboxes because most amps in there have pretty good gain and eq. if you want, just add an overdrive pedal and it'll sound really heavy. Technology is growing in a really fast pace and we should accept the fact that modelling is getting closer and closer to the real thing.
