^^^No its not(atleast he would be intelligent enough). If I get maybe it will be personally, and since it will look used, I might get it tax free. Else, importing. Its gonna cost the same though.
Walking through the airport with the guitar was a piece of cake. And there were two other people on the plane bringing back guitars. One was a S Prestige and the other was a Les Paul i think. None of us got taxed for the guitars. Although the S Prestige guy got pooned by the custsoms for bringing in a BOSS GT8 and they took 6.5gees for that.

@shreddy: did u carry ur guitar into the cabin? I have not yet brought my guitar. And would they charge some tax for a $750 guitar?
Indian customs suck balls...so they charge customs on anything. And as for cabbin , if you bring it in a softcase 90% chances are yes to cabbin luggage. But mine came with a hardcase (they didnt let me buy just the guitar) so i had to take it in cargo...
