Do not, DO NOT BUY A MARSHALL MG SERIES FOR YOUR FIRST AMP. Or ever, actually.

    Get a Roland Cube.
Micro Cube/15x/20x/30x, all are WAY better.

Cube 15x is cheaper as well as better than the MG15DFX.

And surely you could buy a Yamaha Pacifica 112 or a cheapass Ibanez which'd do better than that crap Bullet? o.o

Indian made marshalls r nt so gud.
My rating fr amps that i've tried,
    Line6 spider > roland > laney >marshall
    .
But spider is more suited fr metal n hard rock. Roland n laney will b gud fr u... Newy, u must try out the amps yrself... N chk bajaao fr prices.
Roland 20 is sumthing arnd 9k i guess.

^But I've heard *terrible* things about Line6 Spider. Sterile sound and stuff. Never got around to trying one though.

And TS, if you're wanting to perform in the future, I say go for Cube 30x. 10" speaker, some great effects and tones. Kickass. ^^

Try them out... crank up a lot of amps before you pick one.

i actually think the line 6 spider sounds pretty decent for ultra-high gain stuff. too sterile on the whole.

avoid the MG15xx series like the black plague.

People talk SS amps down as if they were the worst thing that ever happened to the music scene. Tube amps do give you a compression ("warmth") that as yet has not been replicated by any solid state amp, and of course there's the unbeatable sound of a tube amp going into overdrive but I don't see how it all matters through the PODXT Lives that everyone gigs with these days.

I like the sound of my Laney. Sure it doesn't give me "creamy overdrive" but then I don't play Clapton that often.

Don't put SS amps down there with Marilyn Manson. He might break the input jack.

For maintaining mobility, XT LIVE is the best u can get, u can obviously not carry yr amp evrywhr... Plus u save yrself frm the mysterious procedure of micing the amp... Save yr tones n plug in dude...
    .
N dear hundredth, dare u speak a word against marilyn manson... :x
    i worship him...
