if you dont want to spend $1500 on a usa jm or $1000 on a japanese jm or even $800 on a mexican classic player jazzmaster, then you should check out the blacktop. seems like a steal for $450. ofcourse you might have to spend a bit more on replacements to get it more solid.

saw this when it released. wonder if the pups can be swapped out for AVRI or other JM pickups, will probably have to dump the entire pickguard and put a new one in. not sure why i'd want a ****ing humbucker on a jazzmaster.

the reviews here aren't too good about the tuning stability (but thats inherent to JMs anway) and the electronics - https://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Fender-Blackout-Jazzmaster-HH-Electric-Guitar?sku=H61569

i think used JMs go for about $900-1200 on TGP. $450 is awesome value if you toss out the pickguard. throw in lollars for $200/set (new), some decent hardware and you'll be in for about $750 or a bit more, i'm guessing. sounds like an idea worth exploring.
