just a masochistic view............*yawn*............kids........... i doubt 90% of girls in india or anywhere have even heard of slash or EVH......dont even think it matters....... if slash goes with 3 or 5 sustained notes......he atleast makes em sound beautiful....... Cant belive that some one does this sort of comparing........ even more slash is winning....... Though i listen to GNR More , VAn halen is ayday a much much much mcuh better guitarist than slash...... maybe in feel slash is a bit better......
van halen is tecnical guitarist...no one can play like him........slash is fomous for his style....many people know him bcuz of his style not his guitaring......
and can u tell me why van halen rocks??? one single good thing about his guitar playing !! ... except "speed" .. slash has speed as well .. its just that he doesnt over-do it like VH ... listen to his slash's snake pit songs like landslide and during the outro you'll see the magic he churns when he combines speed with melody ... totally awesome! VH is nothin but a fluke/con
ah..well.. i cant even believe this discussion is still goin on. vh was a pioneer . dont judge him only on eruption. vh has the ability to great riffs,im not sayin slash doesnt.. and sum it up with groundbreakin guitar -lead-rythm work. the things that vh can do on guitar can never be done by slash. vh is more rock n roll. vh > slash.
Every song of Van Halen you listen to, he comes with something new. Some new innovation of technique. Who ever is the dumb ass who said Van Halen is just speed. and technique. Look for the innovation. Almost everybody here can come with a lick with a bit of shred and try to make it sound good. How many of you can come up with a technique which no guitarist in the world has explored it till now. Try doing. Then you will know which is tougher. I recently debated over this with one of my friends and he said that no more innovations are happening because everything in guitar is already done. You just dont have innovators anymore. Only copy cats who do toooooooing tuiiiiiiing, teeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeiiiiiiing hoping a few chix and a few chixy boys will drool for them.
Hey Van Halen Haters Do YOU KNOW who started the technique of TAPPING.... It was Van Halen the Great....... He has been rated above Slash atleast BY 30 POSITIONS IN every Rating...... MAYbe U need to check that first........ AND Those of you who said Van Halen is just speed HOW MANY SONGS OF HIS HAVE YOU HEARD........
Hey Nanda, The first ever recorded / documented two hand tapping was by Jimmy Webster as early in the early 1950s. There were some jazz guitarists like Stanley Jordan used it in the mid 1970s. EVH is the not the first one to invent the technique. But EVH is the first one to introduce tapping the way it's used by all the other great rock guitarists. He populaized it and a pioneer in the tapping technique. That's the only thing. He is the first guy to use Drill Gun guitar solos. Hear him playing beyond the nut in Running With The Devil intro. Though this has been originally invented by Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath in his song Iron Man. Hear the second solo of Dream by Van Halen to hear what great melody can be created by EVH. A solo straight from Heaven.

someone said slash makes gr8 riffs ... wrong story man ... while he was in GnR ... it was Izzy who used to do all the riff n rhythm work ... and the song work was by Axl ... Slash was there to fill the leads (guess thats y he broke away) ... b.t.w. Slash has done some giutaring with Lemmy and Ozzy ... no where does he comes close to the original "Fast" Eddie Clarke or Zakk Wylde ...
this debate has gone out of hands........... to all those who think slash is for sissies......and for chix ......i say VH is for people who need to feel secure about there gender...about their Non-sissy status........ at least slash fans arent codependent personlaites....... with that am getting outta this stupid debate.......the ones who think VH is great will maintain he is..the ones who know slash is...will know..... no point trying to prove the other or to the world who is greater coz the world will always be divided into people who will like slash and those who will like VH better, and those who cudnt care less......no use trying to convince the other..............lets just respect each others opinions and get it over with. ....just FYI....slash is leading.........
