    Jimmy,

I think the Am is fine where it is.

    Rohan:

I have a few alterations to this in certain parts which are highlighted. Most importantly, I noticed an alternate use of Em and G in the "O Meri Jaan parts", which I have marked in bold, but am not too sure of coz the recording I have doesn't really let me identify bass-lines properly.

Here's my take (as usual - borrowed from yours) :p:

    Intro:
    G-G(add9)-G-G(add9)-Em---Em---
    G-G(add9)-G-G(add9)-Em---Em---
    G---Em---Bm---C-D7-
    G---Em---Bm---D---

    Verse:
    G------------Em-
    dil khudgarz hai
    -----------Am------------D-
phisla hai yeh phir haat se
    G----------Bm
    kal uska raha
    ----------C----------D-
aab hai tera is raat se

    Chorus:
    -------G------Bm-------C-
    o meri jaan uuhuuu uuuhuu
    D------Em/G----Bm-------C--
    o meri jaan uuhuuu uuuhuu
    D------Em/E---
    o meri jaan

    Interlude #1:
    G---Em---Am---G-D-
    G---Em---Am---G-D-
    G---G---

    Post-Chorus:
    G----------------Em------
tu aa gaya yuh nazar main
    Am--------------D-------
    jaise subah dopaher main
    ---------G-------------------Em----
madhoshi yun hi nahin dil pe chhayi
    Am-------------D---
    neyat ne li angrayi
    ---------G------------Bm-
    chhuwa tune kuch is tarah
    --------C-----------D-
    badli fiza, badla sama

    Repeat Chorus

    Interlude #2:
    A---Em---A---Em---
    A---Em---A---Em---

    Outro:
    Em----------------------Bm-------
nadan samjhe na hai yeh dil mera
    Em-----------------------Bm------
jaanu naa jaanu naa isko kya hua
    -----F-----------------------C--------
teri bahon ki phir se dhunde yeh panah
    ---------G--
    tu hai kahan
    ---------D--
    tu hai kahan

    Last chorus:
    -------G------Bm-------C-
    o meri jaan uuhuuu uuuhuu
    D------Em/G----Bm-------C--
    o meri jaan uuhuuu uuuhuu
    -------G------Bm-------C-
    o meri jaan uuhuuu uuuhuu
    D------Em/G----Bm-------C--
    o meri jaan uuhuuu uuuhuu
    D------Em/E---
    o meri jaan

    Cheers!

@ jimmy_cool ~ thanks for that suggestion. i guess sheermelody already cleared that thing.

@ sheermelody ~ frankly speaking i was kinda waiting for you to make these alterations.
i'm sure my chords are not that bad.
but your chords are like bingo.
    reps added. :p
    1 question - isn't Em/E and Em the same thing ?

    Confusion about strum pattern

    hi

everywhere chords re specified. at my training class ive learnt 8 strum patern but im helpless as hav no idea which to use fr this song, n fr other comon songs also. Why is tht ppl only mention chords n pattern is nt mentioned anywhere?

@ravinderjeet---I feel that strumming pattern is always upto the mood of the guitarist for except some songs...hope tht others will agree

But you can play it like this:
    D.D...DDU....DUDU

    sorry ravinderjeet.
    galti se mistake ho gaya.
i'll keep it in mind from the next time.
    well i play it like this | d - d - | du du d - |.

and i completely agree with what sayantan has said.

Rohan: You are right Em/E is basically Em with E as the bass. I just wrote it to make a clear distinction from the previous Em chord (which I felt had a G for the bass ... I have written Em/G for that one). As in:

    D------Em/G----Bm-------C--
    o meri jaan uuhuuu uuuhuu
    D------Em/E---
    o meri jaan

The first is Em/G, the second is Em/E. Both are Em, yet they sound just a little different. I am still not 100% sure that the first chord is Em with G bass. As I said, the version I have is pretty bad sound-quality wise. I am trying to get hold of a better version, and will clarify soon.

    .................

sheermelody u did a gud job but u used "Em/E" chord .. this is wrong i mean there is no (Em/E) chord in guitar history .....

Dude it's just to differentiate between the Em/G (which has the G bass inversion) and the normal Em, with the E bass note (Em/E).

I know there is nothing like Em/E :)
