SO instead of JAANEJAAN DHOONDTA for now I post MERE SAPNON KI RANI Chords (in the right key) and Positions for getting the right VOICE

The basic song has only 4 chords
    BUT NOTE:
    1) The music at the start of the song is in B MAJOR and not B Minor
(I am not including that in this post)

    2) The interludes have some othe chords like F# and F#sus4 and ends in C G
(I am not including that in this post)

    The Bm in 2 positions
    The A in 2 positions
    The D
    & The G

    G||---|---|---|-2-|---|---|
    D||---|---|---|---|-4-|---|
    X||---|---|---|---|-3-|---|
    X||---|---|---|---|---|---|

The song's full mukhda can be played in the (1) positions
The antra needs the (2) positions
    See below:

    MUKHDA (SIGN)

Mere sapnon ki rani kab aayegi tu
    -----Bm(1)----A(1)----Bm(1)-----Bm(1)---

Aayi rut mas-tani kab aayegi tu
    ----Bm(1)---A(1)-----G---------G---

Beeti jaaye zinda-gani kab aayegi tu
    -----Bm(1)------A(1)-----D---------D--

    chali aaaaaa tuuuuu chali aa
    -----Bm(1)--A(1)--------Bm(1)---

    ANTRA (STANZA)

    Pyaaaaar ki galiyan---(guitar strokes)
    Bm(1)------Bm(1)---- Bm(2)----A(2)

    Baaaagon ki kaliyan---(guitar strokes)
    Bm(1)------Bm(1)---- Bm(2)----A(2)

    Sab----rang-raliyan---(guitar strokes)
    A(1)--------A(1)---- A(2)----A(2)

    Poooooch rahi hai------(guitar strokes)
    Bm(1)------Bm(1)-----Bm(2)-----Bm(2)

Pyaaaaar ki galiyan - Baaaagon ki kaliyan
    Bm(1)------Bm(1)-----Bm(1)-----Bm(1)---

    Sab----rang-raliyan---Poooooch rahi hai
    A(1)--------A(1)-----Bm(1)-------Bm(1)--

Geet Panghat mein kis din ---gaayegi tu
    -----A(1)----------------D-------Bm(1)

In a nutshell, the (2) positions of the Bm and A have been used only in the "guitar strokes" part in the antra.

hey Bandbaaja thanks a lot lot lot ................................................ :nw: this is what i asked for chords n their positions.

    thanks again.......................................................................

now talking about d song which u hv posted MERE SAPNO KI.............i am comfortable with the chords mentioned, but the problem is of STRUMMING.

this shoulnt b a problem for u. i read ur previous post on strumming pattern thats y am asking u. all i want is the pattern representation using the Ds and Us and Xs along with 1,2 ,3 ......................................... which u hv used in that post THATS IT.

and 1 more querry regarding that strumming pattern post of urs. u hv said that d pattern (3) which is of PAPA KAHTE HAIN........................, is it known as SALSA (which i know) or this rhythm SALSA is all together a different thing

    Subhro Argentina lost :"(

    i'll keep quiet :) u two carry on. :)

Papa kehte hain is not Salsa, its more a rock n' roll variant.
Salsa is more of the Lambada kind of beat.
    ====================================================

    For Mere Sapnon Ki Rani

The strumming is a FAST version of a very easy pattern as mentioned below.
Please note that the song has a lot of Pickup Strumming patterns every time the song starts a mukhda or antra pattern. There u just use any pickup pattern that goes with the drums.

    Pattern Notes:

    The D & U represent heavy strokes
The small d & u represent light strokes
The --- between strokes means you sustain the bang.
The xxx between strokes means you strike the chord and stop it at once

Struming pattern through the song is

    1-&-2-&-3-&-4-&
    D---D-U-D---D-U

    -------------------------------------------------------------
Strumming pattern for the F# played in the interlude music
    (like a train chugging...)

    1-&-2-&-3-&-4-&
    D-U-d-u-D-U-d-u

    -------------------------------------------------------------

Strumming pattern in the middle of the antra
which has the words (guitar strokes) written on my tab

    1-&-2-&-3-&-4-&
    DxxxD-U---U-Dxxx

All said and done I wonder if you actually get what I am trying to say.
Words and diagrams cannot explain rhythm and strumming patterns unless you're learning staff notations.
Because apart from the 8 counts in a bar
    like (1 & 2 & 3 & 4 & )

There a lot of in between counts that can be filled.
Example of counting 16 within one BAR
    (1 ee & aa 2 ee & aa 3 ee & aa 4 ee & aa )

So counting 16 within a bar, and putting down strokes in an UP and DOWN pattern is pretty painfull to write, and equally painfull to read and set!!!!

You need someone to explain this vocally till u start getting rhythm patterns on your own. The best way to learn rhythms is to forget chords for a while and pay attention to the percussions in the song. Try to mimic the drums by mouth and then try playing a strumming pattern that matches your vocal drums!!!

My sir would always say this to me,
IF YOU CANNOT EXPRESS A SOUND BY MOUTH, WHETHER GUITAR, PIANO OR DRUMS YOU CANNOT PLAY IT. SO YOU NEED TO DO A BIT OF "CHAKA CHAKA JHANG JHING" AND A BIT OF "TANG DANG DUDADUNG" AND A BIT OF "DHIK CHIK TAKK CHIK" ORALLY.

and I guess he is absolutely right!!!

Bandbaaja the strummimg explaination is superb with all those interludes  .
now i somewhat get the idea about the strumming pattern but i can not play it that fast. no worries about that i ll practice.

i ll keep this thing in mind.

now its up to u when to post the next song.................................

    thanks once again Bandbaaja....... :nw:

Amazing post, Bandbaaja ... I knew how to play this one, but even I used to play it in the wrong key : ... had never bothered to check whether the chords I had found on the net were correct or not ...

I hope this is not off-topic ... but my query is for a song like Pehla Nasha.

When I try to concentrate on the light drum beats in the background, I am able to catch something which goes like "Tuk (gap) tuktuk (quickly)" ... maybe something on the lines of 1 _ &3 _ 1 _ &3 _ 1 _ &3 _ ...

On the other hand, when I try to strum, the only rhythm with which it seems to sound good is a fast 4/4 rhythms ... DUD(muted)U ...

Don't know whether I'm able to explain my query perfectly :annoyed: ...

    - Raj.

    P.S. Tomo's the Knopfler concert ... Yay!

    yikes...this is an amazing post..

so i guess ur saying that if ur reading some music...and someone says use the G chord here...it is completely up to u to decide whether u wanna use bar chord...or open chord....i asked my music teacher...and he was like...depends on what sounds good...and whats more convenient to use...

oh...and theres so many F's that sound so close as well :S
