Can chords for a song played can produce the song

Hi,

I am a newbie and can any one clarify me that can chords for a song played can produce the song or they need a singer also.

I mean if we take individual notes played successively produces the song, but can chords with a strumming pattern do the same or not.

Please reply so that i can work out the chords basics.

Thanks Zing , I mean i just wanted to know the basic difference between
as lead guitarist and a rhythm guitarist.

 

lead = solo, rhythm = accompaniment

 

Lead can play vocals rhythm give chords by strumming.

Lead can also give backing effects with different tunes between verses.
