i heard this song a couple of days ago and it has got me hooked..... i read the lyrics, re-read them, and read them once again......used every ounce of my brainpower.......but i couldent figure out the meaning of the song........here are the lyrics.....what can u get out of it???? what is dylan trying to say in this song.....???? here is what wikpedia had to say...... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/All_Along_The_Watchtower .
^^^i havent heard the hendrix version....will download it.....but ive heard the orignal.....the one by bob dylan......
and no one has answered his question yet. arent u happy with the lyrics meaning on wikipedia - biblical references etc ?
it's actually pretty simple. it's kinda about dylan just getting really big and then the "businessmen" they try to use him to make more money and stuff. (the record company was treating him badly at the time). It's about Dylan wanting to get away from the money (and thiefs and jokers) trying to exploit him and just make music.
hmm..... but i still did not get the last two paras..... "All along the watchtower, princes kept the view While all the women came and went, barefoot servants, too. Outside in the distance a wildcat did growl, Two riders were approaching, the wind began to howl."
That is quite interesting....Much deeper than what it seems. Ive always loved his lyrics... Thanks for this bit...
I have an absolutely killer version of this song with 9 guitarists playing. The vocalist calls out names and each one pulls off a s.exy solo... The guitarists are 1. Robbie Krieger (Doors) 2. Alvin Lee (Ten Years After) 3. Leslie West (Mountain) 4. Steve Howe (Yes, Asia) 5. Andy Powell (Wishbone Ash) 6. Ted Turner (Wishbone Ash) 7. Peter Haycock (Climax Blues Band) 8. Randy California (Spirit) 9. Steve Hunter (David Lee Roth)
