    No.

I feel all the laptops get heated up pretty fast.
Infact you should never keep the laptops on your laps, since the heat can cause sterlization.

    b.t.w. that config for $1350?
I am surprised, U can get a similar deal in India for same money.

Besides, Intel has come up with misleading ad campaign about Centrino processor.
Centrino is not a processor but a technology (whcih includes processor + motherboard + WiFi)

    hehe^^

    fooling the consumer..

reminds me on Dandi Namak...the manufacturers claimed it is triple refined...but actually u cannot triple refine a namak and sell it in India.....the dude frm the agency who made tht campaign told me

back on topic....the cost seems a little steep lookin at the config..

i suggest go for a Dell Inspiron series one..they are kickass

    Check this out
My frend just got a new lappy:
    Code:
    Comparison:
Intel Centrino Mobile 1.6Ghz Processor Intel Celeron M 1.5GHz (add 3K Rs)
    512 MB DDR RAM 1GB DDR2 RAM (-2K Rs)
60GB HArd Disk 40 GB Hard Disk (almost same cost)
Dual Layer DVD Writer drive same
    10/100 MBPS Ethernet Card same
    56Kbps Internal Fax/Modem same
    802.11 b/g Wireless Lan same
Up to 128 MB Graphic system support same
Built in Bluetooth NA (add 1K Rs)
2 USB Ports, PCMCIA slot, VGA Port 4 USB Ports .. PCMCIA slot, no VGA Port (no diff cost wise)
    and as free gifts:
    Original Acer optical mouse same
Original Acer 128 MB USB Pen Drive (add 500 Rs)
    Original Acer Carrying case. same

    All for 1350 USD                                Ideal Cost difference -> 2.5K Rs => Rs 40500 = $900

Bottom Line: It is 50% more expensive than what it should be. I guess Dell would be available in US for this price.

He got it for Rs 38K (~$850).

Besides, Intel Mobile Processor is a waste; another frend, has a Compaq with 1.5GHz (or mebbe 1.6) processor Intel M.

His laptop runs slower than Celeron 1.5GHz.

    Hi guys,

Thnx for all ur advice. Actually, if I convert Mauritian Rupees it gives u approx 1350 USD. But compared to the other Laptops of same capacity/config. of other makes such as Dell, Fujitsu Siemens...etc. This one is cheaper!!
Down here it costs Rs 40,000 (approx 26,000 Indian Rupees)! Do u guys fink it's a gud deal or not??
It just about the fact that it gets heated a little more than others that i can't decide about buying it or not!
Can any1 plz let me know wats the general lifetime of a laptop!!

    thnx

its certainly a gud deal in its price range....as such there is no lifetime of the laptop but if u ever get to face any problem specially with tft or any other components, or if u wanna upgrade than its turns out to be very expensive...
that way i wud go for a notebook which offers the best support....also consider the location where u r buyin ..coz if u wud be moving than an international warranty is a big plus.....
in india dell has the best support ..for that matter it has the best international warranty...though it comes wid a price but is certainly a value for money...toshiba is also worth considering in india..but if u r not buying in india than consider how gud service it offers in the country u r buying and wud be using...
    btw...apple is simply gr8 if u r a unix geek...

Dells are high rated down here but are expensive compare to the Acer Extensa 6600. Apple as well is very expensive.

My frend has Acer TravelMate 2413NLM He just added 1GB of DDR-II RAM.
    No other MOD.

And hey nouca - I think some math done wrong.
    $1350 = Rs40000 (MAU) = Rs26000 (IN) ?????
    Nope buddy
    $1350 = Rs 60000 (IN)

SO $1350 for that config is overpriced.
