All of the following may not be my fave..according2 me there r 12 music directors who have made quite a bit of good music. ( 1,3,4,5,7,10 might be my fave )

2) anu malik (he is a chor..i know but still has made a dozen of b'ful songs : )

4) rd burman
5) op nayyar
6) naushad
7) laxmikant pyarelal
8) sandeep chowta
9) shankar jaikishan
10) jatin lalit

12) nadeem shravan

Naushad and RD Burman - IMO are class apart.
yes Anu Mallik (wonder how he created those Phir Teri Kahani Yaad Aai sonds!) and well everyone else mentioned above have composed some remarkable stuff! - Only additions in my list will be MM Kreem, Bhupen Hazarika, and Biddu (or whoever composed the Disco Diwane and Aap jaisa koi types...)

 

RD Burman.....i love the bass in his songs...
AR Rehman....a great singer as well
Sandeep Chowta....i like his new job...in the nagarjuna...ayesha takia movie....if that is not INSPIRED...
