^ Well a shredder WILL shred most of the time.
Just like a Blues player who WILL keep bending strings most of the time.
Just like a metal guitarist wil do nothing more than chugging power chord riffs (at hyper speeds).
Just like a violin player trying to include a vibrato in each and every note he plays.

If your criteria is to be taken, all of 'em suck.

Maybe Jazz players will be the only ones who don't suck.
How many Jazz players have you heard till now?

If SHreding is taken into account, Michel Angelo Batio wins :p:
    @Alpha1.1
I think what Ibanez woz trying to point out is the melody...Malmsteen kind of solos generally are very tough to be grasped over 10 mins (If you don't get a Disprin for ur self:p:).....Ofcourse....I have gr8 respect in his guitaring ability and some of his works with Western Classical....

They all are good from their own perspective.....They all rock.....(even Michel Angelo BAtio  )...
But it's the question whom do you listen to...It's upto us as listeners...But we shud not blame anyone of them...

Well, strictly speaking (dunno how many here would agree), I find Malmsteen's solos rather simple (melodically).
He uses same runs and licks in his solos.

If someone finds his solos hard to grasp. then =>

Now if you really wanna listen to something complex - listen to Jazz.
INFACT! There is more shredding in Jazz-Fusion than in Rock/Metal.

Check out Al DiMeola, Shawn Lane, Steve Morse,Frank Gambale, Alan Holdsworth etc.

Infact, if someone really wants to give it a go, I can upload one very small (few seconds) "Jazzy shred" here.

Petrucci is HEAVILY influenced from blues... if blues didn't exist... i doubt petrucci's guitaring style would.

Btw.... shredders DON'T shred 24/4. listen to hollow years by petrucci... then come and tell me if that's shredding.

^ Was that pointed at me?
Jazz is not exactly the same as Blues.

Anyway, Petrucci is MOST HEAVILY INFLUENCED by Steve Morse, as told by the man himself.
Sugata, I did include his name though.

BTW, as promised, here is a Jazzy shred track. The First solo is done by Brett Garsed, second solo by Shawn Lane.

Its fantabulous to notice that they don't seem to run outta ideas even while shredding for practically the whole length of the song.

AND, they are not doing the tremolo picking the same note (which most of the rock/metal guitarist do in order to show as if they are playing very fast), + the guitar tone is kept very clear, so that each note stands out.

You didn't realise that someone simply screwed up the audio part in that clip.
The VDO is actually from a lesson by Malmsteen

    Here for your convenience:
    MP3 version: https://www.sendspace.com/file/8hu3n9

    OGG version: https://www.verzend.be/v/5085501/1_Hey_Tee_Bone.ogg.html

I have decreased the soundquality severly to reduce the file size.
Dude, if your plater can play OGG files, download that.
OGG quality is 10 times better than MP3.
+ OGG file is 60% of MP3, so its easy on your bandwidth too.

Sugata: seems like you still haven't downloaded what I uploaded.
    :-\
