the lines are called frets....fretless gitars dont have any lines....so they are called fretless simple
If u want u can call the nut zero fret ... Lots of guitars wont have the zero fret .. its directly the nut .... Its more about convention than logic ... Even the sheet music diag ! wow its wierd ..
thnks alpha... gr8 post, even if i didnt understrand hlf of it, lol... only kiddin, thnk 4 that hlp.i got another question, how comes natural harmonics r where they r, eg at the 5th, 7th and 12th frets (mayb more on electric). is that 2 do with string length n frequency n stuff?
yep - u get harmonix when the vibrations are in proper fractions of the string length - so if string lenght is 'x' the u get hamonix at x/2, x/3, x/4, etc... at 12th fret string is divided into 2 exact halves [x/2] at 7th fret its x/3 at 5th fret its x/4... an so on.. i know this coz i measured it hehe
i need someone need to make this thread sticky or at least bookmark it so that ig another newbie ask same question we can just say refer to thread https://indianguitartabs.com/showthread.php?t=17718
