wood used in making guitars

    errrrrrr...........one more headache..
    can u tell me how to identify which type of wood is it as many types have the same colour
    and how to tell if it is gud or bad.

    How do u identify the wood if its painted?

    the colour of the wood is the biggest give away .... after the grain itself.
    maogany: dark orangish/brownish/red colour
    maple: white wood .... shimmery grain.
    alder: dull light brown/blonde wood with wide grain
    basswood: thumpy soft wood
    etc etc
