    Hi,

First off, my apologies if I have asked an oft repeated question.

I recently bought an Ibanez GRG170DX. (Yeah, I know it a very basic level model, but it works out for me as I am a newbie, and for its price, Its a good sounding guitar :) )

The amp I bought with it is a Kustom Sound FX 15.

I am planning to buy a new amp, but needed something small enough to carry around.

Googled a bit and came across Marshall MG15CD. I came across this forum while looking up for its cost.

Also came across a couple of threads that stated that Line 6 and Laney are better amps.

Could someone tell me which amp would go better with the GRG170DX. I play rock/metal/blues (Just some riffs, nothing major )

I have been through the product websites and Line 6 Spider III 15 looks like a good amp, but I dont know how much it costs.

    I am from Bangalore, India.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Regards,
    Ibanezer.

call up furtados at 080 41623810.
line6 comes costly but is superb as per me... but crank up the amps well b4 u pik up anything coz the effects n all are quite subjective, different persons may give u entirely different reviews.. newys, my rating goes like:
    line6 > roland > laney > marshall >>> stranger, kustom

    alpha1 I BLUES!

If you are gonna play in gigs then forget about lugging a marshall or line6 etc.

Get an el-cheapo Stranger and a decent processor.

I'd strongly consider Roland. Don't fool with the Jr. Marshalls.

What would be the minimum wattage for jamming with a drummer?

Depends whether it's an angry drummer. If so, 30 minimum.

I'd suggest getting a decent amp. There's nothing like raw amp tone and you'll develop a lot of technique by using an amp. Recording with an amp is also very good because a mic'd amp, even a small one can sound really nice. You can go for a Marshall if you need volume and Line6 if you need features.

    Thanks,
    Angellica

    Why so much derision?

If you have to choose, pick the MG over the Spider!

But if you ask me, for a starting amp, the Peavey Vypyr and the Vox AD series amps are brilliant. Many millions of times better than the MG and Spider and whatever.

Precisely my point. So many better things at the under 20k range, I can't believe I just bought what my seniors at school bought, simply because it was the cheapest in my knowledge back then, and because it was the only amp company I knew, and I was 'electric guitar crazy'. Roland Cubes (I'm gonna get a Cube Street when I can), PV Vypyrs, Laney Cubs, the BE3 Brat... -.-'
