    death_metal_fan oh goody, it's a woody!

Easy (not-so) question..what do you think was the best year for heavy metal and list the albums that support your answer.

Mine would undoubtedly be 1984 because a number of great metal bands released their best works.

Judas Priest - Defenders Of The Faith
    Iron Maiden - Powerslave
    Metallica - Ride The Lightning
    Manowar - Hail To England
    Jag Panzer - Ample Destruction
Mercyful Fate - Don't Break The Oath
Scorpions - Love At First Sting
    Slayer - Haunting The Chapel
Savatage - The Dungeons Are Calling

I'm sure there are several others that slip my mind at the moment. In short 1984 => greatest year for heavy metal.

the best era for real heavy metal is mid seveties to late eighties ...

thats when all the NWOBHM bands were formed ... and the amroo bands were begining to be formed ...

and simultaneously the glam metal/rock was also formed ...

yeah grunge was not there but so what ... grunge is not exactly metal ...

@DMF, you forgot the Self Titled album by Whitesnake also called as 1984. It is their best selling album of all times. It features the amazing guitar work of John Sykes.
