Scales build technique. They also allow you to memorize the fretboard. Don't you wish you could play those fast riffs? Well, if there is a single technique to improve your mastery of the fretboard, it is scales. Start very slowly. Use a metronome preferably. Start at 60 bps and try the C scale. Don't worry about speed. Concentrate on muscle memory. Slowly increase the speed. If you practice scales 10 min every day, I guarantee you that you will see a quantum improvement.
