Some good black metal bands IMO. (miles better than Filth, but its my opinion): Immortal Burzum (Filosofem) Mayhem Early Behemoth Celtic Frost Venom DM bands that i like: Morbid Angel Cryptopsy Death Hate Eternal Decapitated Nile Cannibal Corpse Opeth (theyre not exactly DM but who cares) Suffocation Bolt Thrower Vader Necrophagist Arch Enemy Later Behemoth Demilich Dying Fetus Krisiun Brujeria (early as hell fear factory as well) Exhumation  Napalm Death Cynic (Not exactly death metal..) Athiest (same with this band) Ion Dissonance Martyr Node ....etc All of that in no particular order of course. So i think its clear that i like DM more than black, but there's a lot of good black metal aswell.
if Black needs satanism , then how come Cradle Of Filth is in Black metal? I only know the mantra song is santanic ... their other songs doesn't seem satanic what .. sounds more of a screwed life which they sing with hatred ... or they sing about some spirit screwin up a life .. but nothing seem to be singing about satan what ... not too sure ... coz i juz love 2 of their songs.. one is an Iron Maiden cover - Hallowed Be Thy Name and the other is Nymphetemine or somethin like that .. yeah .. so is Cradle a mix of BM and DM ? or pure BM?
Its not fully black metal, but definatly not death metal.....NOOOOOOO... And then you have the wannabe scary costumes, screeching vocals....etc. Honestly i dont want to have an opinion on them... Thanks to whoever moved this thread. \\m//
varg is screwed in his head but i like "filosofem" from them. Nice stuff i got to say. But all this racism crap is limited to ns bm. I supposed you read this
they come under progressive death IMO... COF can be partly considered as black becoz of lyrics like this https://www.darklyrics.com/lyrics/cradleoffilth/irapedthevirginmaryandhungthebastardchrist.html#1
btw..what about Melodic Death....In Flames and others a sub genre of eath metal with melodic guitar riffs and solos can Opeth be considered as Melodic Death....because they do have clean vocals other than grunts
