    hi all,
after playing my acoustic for nearly 10 months, i think i can switch over to an electric guitar. the problem is that i know very little about electric guitars and their specs.
i have a budget of areound 15k (including amp not including processor) . so plz suggest a few worthy guitars for me. ive heard givson guitars are not good. ive also heard that fenders are good.
in ur reply if u can include any info abt hhow a particular spec matters in the overll quality of the guitar then thatll be great ! for eg. the fretboard wood or the pickups/action etc.
in short .. you got to help me you :cen: !! (hehe)

Consider Tokai or Korean made Ibanez. They are quite good. What kind of music do you play? Is a floyd Rose important to you etc? Also consider some Les Paul copies - some are very good. I can recommend some names. I am selling an Epiphone Les Paul Custom but I'm afraid it's about 10k over your budget :)

well the kind of music id like to play wud be nething except for the death metal kind of stuff (it scares me .. hehe) . im generally more inclined to soulful music. so the sound quality really matters to me.
les paul i heard are way beyond what budget i have. i saw ur guitar . looks cool but sadly.. u know..
so gimme the names u know abt and are really worth it . bye till then

u can get 10w marshall 4 abt 3.5 ,so 11.5 remains 4 ur guitar.u can buy the ibanez grx ones as fenders rnt ur type(death metal).

I think for ur budget of 11k for guitar(~4K for amp)..u shud go for a Kramer Focus with Floyd Rose, 21 frets, single single humbucker pickup config.......ull also get a Yamaha pacifica in the same range...ronnieanand owns a GB&a strat copy for 8k and he says its pretty good...
    Fenders..LPs...way out of budget.......

Some very nice LP copies are Keiper (get for around Rs. 10k), Greco & Tokai are sometimes more expensive than Gibsons so leave those out. Epiphone Les Paul Standard is not bad for about 15k. Let me know - I am in India (mumbai) mid June - may be able to bring one for you - no problemo!

Also consider Westfield LP Copy E4000 - will get for GBP 100 or so - about Rs. 8.5k

For the kind of sound you want - LP copy with nice pups (Alnicos) will really sound nice :)

hi nemo... first of all u shud've been more specific wid da kinda music u play... anyway considering ur budget i suggest u any of da following:
BC Rich Bronze Series Mockingbird (12k approx), 2 hambuckers, 24 frets
Ibanez GRX20 (11k approx) 2 hambuckers, Vintage tremolo, 22 frets
Silvertone Rockit 21 (Gibson SG Copy) (12k approx) 2 hambuckers, 22 frets
Silvertone SSL3 (Gibson Les Paul EXACT Copy) (15k approx) 2 hambuckers, 22 Frets
Though da last one s slightly over budget, but if u can manage, its highly recommended. Even i am planning to buy 1 soon.
U can place the order of any of the stated at Bharat Music House, Def col. U can get the address as well as their contact no. on www.bharatmusichouse.com.
N as for u rust_in_pain... U srsly think that Fenders r for metal..?????????????? get urself checked man..!!! Fenders are best suited for bluesy stuff....!!!! On the contrary Ibanezes are much better suited for any type of metal.
N u nabu... lemme tell u Kramer focus doesnt hav a floyd rose... its a three single coil pickup guitar, standard VINTAGE tremolo, having a pathetic tone....!!!!! Not against Kramer though.. I myself hav Kramer Vanguard... 2 hambuckers, Liscenced Floyd Rose, 24 frets... N it simply rocks..!!!
No hard feelings dudes... I just said wut i knw.
    Keep rocking...!!!

Thats what he said that Fender aren't really metal guitars...READ first then think then post ;)

as for fender's not being metal guitars its true if you play the Fenders that have single coils only.

i doubt its awesome but then agtin budget is quite low...

if possible try and get from us - ull get much better stuff - a guitar that typcially costs 18k here will come for 7.5-9k in the us if ubuy from musiciansfriend.com or something...

most guitars are over double the price on retail here (eg. my ibanez and my yam...)

otherwise think of a yam pacifica -u get for 12k i tihnk..

theyre pretty decent guitars for the price...

its a god of a deal in india.

its a lot below retail and its all quite good...

call them up otherwise and see if they can fix u up for some other deals - ask about second hand stuff and abt clearance stuff.. its all seems really good...

    @rabi

hey rabi.. srry to say man but i think U need to go though the rust's post again... he said, "u can buy ibanez grx ones as fenders rnt ur type (death metal)... n nemo wrote he likes to play anything except death metal... so as rust said fenders arnt his type, this implies fenders r for death metal... so... i must say read the post n the replies carefully or join some english training program..!!!!

Well nemo as abt ur query... A hambucker is a double coiled pickup having much heavier tone in comparison to single coil ones. And by saying a copy i meant a lookalike of the gibson les paul standard... As les pauls were first made by Gibson. If u want to further check da guitar, check da following link:

Hope u find the one best suited for u...
    Keep rocking...!
