hello ppl i just bought the GRX40 of Ibanez, with a small amp also of Ibanez. the amp is small, i think its 10 or 12 watts, but it makes a lotta noise. im a beginner so i guess the GRX40 is a good enough guitar for me ? anyway, the whammy bar was not attached to the guitar, so how can i attach it? should i just push it in the hole at at the side of the ( im gonna say "tremolo' here cuz im not sure if the place where there are springs etc is called a tremolo ?) so can i just push it in or do i need to take it to the guitar shop ?
hmm the guitar usually comes with a manual for this..and an allen wrench..but indian music stores dont give it usually.....take it to the guitar shop.... wait for more expert comments
is the bar threaded? like screw? .. the one on ma barritone has a threaded end so it goes in like a screw but i am a LP guy .. neva used a floyd in ma life .. so i cant really say ..
hi flamio, its nice to have ibanez, they r great guitars, and its very good u r intrested in using whammy bar, it is a serious fun, ibanez without whammy bar .............no use, ur problem is to fix the tremelo arm, no problima, pick the bar u will se its one end wid screws on it insert it in the bridge and rotate the bar clock wise, in this way u have done adjust the position of the bar where u fine ease to use tighten the locking screw, man u have done now its ready to use, now nrxt thing is to master the techniques like, dive bomb, trilling, vibrato, the motorcycle shift gear effect, very often effect in ozzy osbourne song, brother its fun with whammy bar, most of its use can b heared or seen by vai and satch song, if u need any help, brother feel free, i ll try my best
for the amp, play at lower volumes. whammy bar, u'll see internal threadings near the bridge..insert there by rotating clockwise.
hey thanx a lot guys, i fixed it and its awesome man, it so much more fun with the whammy bar, can u guyz suggest other things that can be done with the bar ? like tricks n stuff, @infinte aaz thanx man, and plz do tell me how to do that stuff u mentioned ? it sounds pretty cool.. .. . .
whammy bar trics If you're interested in learning how to use the whammy bar, guitar terminology you may want to become familiar with would include: trills, dive bombs, open string pull-offs, ghost bending(pre-bend), exageratted vibrato, pulling sharp. Here are some beginning fundamental exercises for you to explore that you may be familiar with in sound. Exercise Lead Guitar Trill Key Of E This technique is among the most common for a guitarist who plays with a whammy bar. This technique ("trill") is performed by picking the first note, then hammering-on, and pulling-off in continous motion. This technique sounds good using a downward whammy bend, or pulling sharp. By performing this technique on the open G, D, and A string you can produce the sound similar to a motorcycle shifting gears. You can hear this technique played by Randy Rhoads on the "Ozzy/Randy Live Tribute" near the ending peice of "Randy's Guitar Solo".
