Seems like ur totally new to guitar playing....
Its alrite thou...u ll take a while to get used to these terms..

Anyways, to start with, the terms E (1st), B(2nd)..etc...refers to the note on the open string ( for tats wat the strings r called -by the note tat sounds wen u play it open ) 1st is the thinnest string on ur guitar, 2nd is the string next to it....n 6th is the thickest...
E is the note tat u get wen u play the 1st n 6th string open, the only difference being that the sound on the 1st string is high pitch n the one on the 6th is low pitch...tats y u call the 1st string high E n the 6th low E....
Hope this part is clear nw..

N now to read the tabs, lets take an example

    E (1st)--1-1--------------

    B(2nd)-------3-2--------

    G(3rd)-------------3-5-

Now u have to read the tabs from left to right
the numbers 1-1-3-2 etc denote the fret at which u ought to press
so here u have to first play the 1st string 1st fret twice then go to the 2nd string n play the string at the 3rd fret and then at the 2nd fret then jump on the 3rd string n play it at the 3rd and then the 5th fret.....phew!... hope u got that....

Keep practisin...at first it might not be all tat enjoyable...the clicks n buzzes will make u feel frustrated....but u ll eventually begin to play well..n start lovin it
