hey guys, so i saw a video of a slash solo, and i wanna know , how is he playing all those notes so quicly, i think its called shredding or something ? so what should be the right hand movement, and are there a lotta hammers and pulls involved in this ? and do suggest some exercises for building speed. any kind of tips are welcome
Slash usually doesn't use any "god" level techniques of playing ... he just plays fast thats it ... hey alfons ... y did ya change yer image ... Bin Laden one was really gr8 fun to watch ... LOL ...
your choice ... but i still liked the older one ... haahaaaa ... the first time i saw that, i was ROTFL ...
hey guys, come back to the topic, so like suggest some exercise to build up speed, i know the 1-2-3-4 on every string exercise, but suggest one for speed,
speed somes automatically, man u cannot learn to run before u learn to walk ... thats exactly waht happens to the fingers/brain ... just imagine how long (and how much practice - total no of hours from crawling stage onwards - it took u to start walking and then running) this is my view which might be wrong ... but i feel that instead of practicing exercises ... play the scales ... and some easy songs (and just keep trying to increase the pace/tempo) ... what this will do is to equip you with musical "ear" ... and at the same time "exercise" your fingers ... and also make u familiar with the "runs" that maketh guitar gods ...
da 1234 is called chromatics and after u do em on all da stringz then do 5432 staring frm the high e and go till da low e then start from da low e again and do 3456 and so on... hope u got the idea!
here's one practice u can do e----------------------------------------------------6-7-8-9----- B------------------------------------------5-6-7-8--------------- G--------------------------------4-5-6-7------------------------- D----------------------3-4-5-6----------------------------------- A------------2-3-4-5--------------------------------------------- E-1-2-3-4--------------------------------------------------------- and come back all the way then go back again with increased speed and come back again then go back yet again with even more speed and so on so forth... this is called "steps"
Slash uses a lot of Hammer Ons and Pull offs. They are still legatos. Though he doesn't play long legato lines like the other guys. It's not because he cannot do it, it's just it doesn't fit his style. He has already developed a signature sound and style in playing which itself is a great deal. For improving speed, take any of your chromatic or scale or whatever lick and play it with a metronome. Slowly increase your speed everyday. Over a period of few months, you will gain monster speed.
saw this one on 1 of paul gilberts vids e-----------12 B12-14-15---15-14-12 make it like a cycle u''ll improve greatly if ya use a metronome ! use da 3rd and lil finger 4 the 14h and 15th
