I thought you are going to try this let everyone know...

Never mind...You have already requested too many times so I am doing this excercise for you..

Song Aadat: Play it like I do

Zuda hoke bhi, tu mujh mein kahin baaki hai
    e----------------------------------------------------------------
    B---5-4--2-2-----2-5-5--4-2--2-4/5--5----------------------------
    G-1--------------------------------------------------------------
    D----------------------------------------------------------------
    A----------------------------------------------------------------
    E----------------------------------------------------------------

Palko mein ban ke aansu, tu chaali aati hai
    e----------------------------1/2---------------------------------
    B---5-4--2------------------------5-4-2--2--4/5--5---------------
    G-1--------1-1---1-----1-----------------------------------------
    D------------------4-4-------------------------------------------
    A----------------------------------------------------------------
    E----------------------------------------------------------------

Whats the Missing fret - 3
Missing fret corresponds to which scale (as per my theory) - E major
What are the chords in well known Aadat song - A B C#m
Do they compliant with this tip - Yes (Chords in E major scale are E, F#m, G#m, A, B, C#m)

    Any doubt guys...

^^ wow ...and yeah jab koi bat bigar jaye is a real good example. as i said it mostly works fine i dont know why it should not wrk in the song i gave u :(
    the chords are here:
    https://indianguitartabs.com/showthread.php?t=13191&highlight=bali

[although i prefer playing in C scale ...but bandbaaja mentions the original scale as D so it should be D and only D :) ]

and im surprised if u havent heard this one ..i mean its worth listenning :p: ...u may want to listen it online

another qn: to follow this approach does it make more sense to avoid open strings while tabbing?

I think it will help is one avoids the open strings but theoritically its possible. Try playing any song using open strings, fret1 amd fret3. If so then this song has to be on scale Eb.

But I prefer playing scale on higher octaves and once scale is decided then I can come down and play at lower frets or even using open strings.

    Here you go...

    Tere bin jeena nahi
    e---------------------------------------------------------
    B------13----10-12----------------------------------------
    G-9-12-------------12-10----------------------------------
    D---------------------------------------------------------
    A---------------------------------------------------------
    E---------------------------------------------------------

    O mere jaane wafaa
    e---------------------------------------------------------
    B-------12------10----------------------------------------
    G----10------12----9-12-----------------------------------
    D-12------------------------------------------------------
    A---------------------------------------------------------
    E---------------------------------------------------------

    Missing fret = 11th = C major scale

    ^^ :nw:

ok yet another doubt ... in ur prev post (post#24) u mention:
Try playing any song using open strings, fret1 amd fret3. If so then this song has to be on scale G#.

the missing fret here ^ will be 2nd one rite ..so shouldnt it be Eb?

  7. amit82cse

    amit82cse Silent observeR

Yes you are rite...its Eb...Mein ne isme itna deemaag laga diya hai ki ab mujhe hi yaad nahi rahta ki kaun sa scale kis missing fret ke liye hai :

Hey if you have the mp3 of this song then please mail me at amit82cse@gmail.com

man I love your theories ure a genius!

one more favour that is plzz right the chords of each scale like of E major scale U have mentioned ...
    (Chords in E major scale are E, F#m, G#m, A, B, C#m)

one more thing that if I tab the song a bit lower and eventually get the missing fret lower so my scale would be wrong?

Oh...you guys are great! Thanks a ton....

One good thing is that if I merge the information I posted in thread "Master the FretBoard" and in this thread, coupled with little chord theory (triads) then I feel that one dont have to look any reference for playing any song on any of the major scales. You dont have to look at the charts for finding what are the chords in a given scale, you dont have to search for notes in a given chord...in short you dont have to boot your PC for any damn reason.

Just you and your guitar and those golden memories....

The missing frets technique - question about the first post in this forum

    Amit,

I'm a newbie to guitar playing and trying to learn from experienced people like you how to figure out chords of a song. Taking a look at your first post, you recommend playing a song trying to find the missing fret. My (possibly dumb) question is how high on the scale do you play your song to write down that fret pattern such as in your example. Do you just play high enough to avoid the open strings in your song (so that everything falls on a fret) or is there a logic to how high you try to play your song?

Secondly, in your sample song from Kisna, you show that the missing fret is 9. You used 7,8,10,11. So I guess by "missing fret" you mean a fret that is missing "in between" the frets that are used, correct?

    Thanks in advance, for answering...
