@Jay - Im totally with DMF on this. I think Metal has got better lyrics than other genres. The reason they dont get any writing awards is, they are not mainstreem enough for the so called "critics" to notice them. And grunge lyrics aren't so great. "Hello, hello, hello, how long?". Yeah, genius.

You compared two songs, totally different from each other and claim all of Metal is bad. First of all, we never specifically said "Death Metal". There is much more than just that in Metal. And about Dave, have you ever read the lyrics of Holy wars or Countdown to extinction or 5 magics or Sweating Bullets?? Those songs have some great lyrics. And they are not "negative" in any way. Take Countdown to extinction for example, its about how our poaching is leading to the extinction of various species of animals. And Dave actually accuses mankind of this hideous crime. And even Death Metal Lyrics, can be brilliant. Want an example??? Here it is.. one of the better lyrical efforts of Queen "another one bites the dust".......surely most people would agree , wouldn't they... ? personally i always preferred to give the (venga)bus a miss....
