    MUSIC: slow to moderate 4/4

    RHYTHM: SQQ

PHRASE: two measures or eight counts: S on counts 1,2; Q on 3,
    Q on 4, S on 5,6, Q on 7, Q on 8

    6-Count Foxtrot

    MUSIC: slow to moderate 4/4

RHYTHM: slow slow quick quick (SSQQ, called "magic")

PHRASE: 6 beats: slow (1,2) slow (3,4) quick (5) quick (6); each repetition starts with same note

    Cha Cha
    *** ***

    MUSIC: moderate 4/4

RHYTHM: If you count from the beginning of the musical measure, it's SSSQQ. The last QQ and the first S are the cha-cha-cha. However as the dance begins on the second beat of the musical measure, I teach the dance phrase this way: SSQQS. The last QQS are the cha-cha

    PHRASE: 8 counts starting on beat 2 of first measure: 2 (S), 3(S), 4-and-5 (QQS), 6 (S), 7 (S), 8-and-1 (QQS)
