nah mclaughlin is way better than this guy btw ne one listen 2 passion grace & fire by mclaughlin/al di meola/paco de lucia - makes G3 look like a bunch of kids
thos guys are diff..play diff styles..G3 IS diff... shawn lane is diff..mc laughlin is diff. im fed up of comparing musicians, artistes, who is better than who,and what is better than what..yada yada.. all of them are artistes playin music..expressing themselves..
ya the style r different ... but ... the knowledge & skill of the player is not dependent on the style .... jus bcos sum1 plays seven chromatics veryveryveryveryveryvery fast doesn't put em in the same bracket as mclaughlin ... so a statemnt like shawn's technique is 100 times betta than mclaughlin is jus so incorrect & misleadin....
shawn lanes technique is more than playin just chromatics.. u should listen to more of his stuff...thats all ive got to say. mclaughlins chops are legendary too..but shawn lane is also a legend imo.
How about Salman Khan's chops. He shreds with his Mandolin in Hum Aap ke Hain Kaun. He is a legend too/
hey kiddo, John McLaughlin and Shawn Lane are on different planes that we cannot dream of touching. There's no one who's better, they're among the best. and they can eat the g3 dudes for breakfast anyday.
Hey Myxo, Next you may say that Shawn Lane is gawd and can have Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck and BB King for dinner anyday. Stop it. Please they are all in diff genres.
Nope. I have this McLaughlin, El Paco and Al Di Meola thing with me. It has more shred than any of G3. They can eat your average shredder for a light tiffin. You gotta hear that stuff to actually believe it.
I see everyone has decided to get angry about the whole issue. For the record, John McLaughlin is my favouritest guitarist...see the fave guitarist list. I wasn't trying to run down Eric Johnson either...just a comment that Lane's older tones are like his. And all McLaughlin/di Meola/de Lucia things are complete jaw-drop shredfests..and their album is also no 1 on my fave albums list..so there!! EDIT: @artmyxolydian: Yeah I've heard Altitudes..can play some of it too. The intro, slower arpeggio part and the ending riff. Not the insane bits of course
And what about Salman Khan . He can smoke out John, Paco and Al like a Beedi with a single tea. :annoyed: :annoyed:
