Don't blame me if this makes your computer very slow!!

Download some really cool wallpapers. I use Webshots Desktop which is free and using which you have access to the vast gallery of wallpapers on their website. Trust me the wallpapers look very beautiful (especially the sceneries).

Skin your desktop. I use a software called WindowsBlinds which has a set of themes which makes your desktop look really beautiful. It has a set of button too which replace the usual quick shortcuts buttons (Back, Forward, Home). Even the boring Windows 98 looks good with it.

If you use Windows XP then hide the shortcuts on the desktop by right clicking on the desktop and then selecting Arrange Icons By and uncheck Show Desktop Items.

Download some cool screensavers as they add to your theme.

You can download Webshots Desktop from https://www.webshots.com/ and WindowsBlinds from https://www.stardock.com/products/windowblinds/and click Download on the left.

If you want your desktop to have the look of the yet-to-be-released Longhorn, then download the Longhorn Transformation Pack (Version 6 or 7 is the latest). The themes and wallpapers provided there are superb too.

Here are 2 of my favourite custom themes. The Led Zeppelin wallpaper was given to me by a friend. If you use Firefox then zoom in as the themes look better on the browser by doing that.

If you are ever concerned about PERFORMANCE... then all this desktop gimmicks slow's down the PC!

I dont even keep a wallpaper on desktop.. only so that after logon.. the desktop loads faster...
These few things matter a lot... but only for PERFORMANCE crazy ppl like me....

In any case... you have many many other ways for an fantastic desktop...
I guess, LINUX have the best desktop's available and stunning graphics..

Some other famous desktop replacements for Windows are:
Talisman: https://www.lighttek.com/talisman.htm (Charged for full version)
    SphereXP: https://www.hamar.sk/sphere/ (Freeware)

I had used Talisman sometime last year.. and among all desktop shell replacements...i found it to be most stable...
Rest had some or the other problems with windows...
    Havent tested SphereXP yet...

    REgards,
    Zooom..!!

Ha, I'm replying from a cyber cafe in a place called Haldwani thats near Nainital.
Anyway, I've already mentioned on the first line that using skins is gonna slow your computer. So I created two accounts with one having all the things and one without the decorations. When I'm concerned with speed I use the one with no decorations.

I used Talisman to mod my desktop and it turned out well, without any significant speed loss.

    Pic is attached.

Actually, I'm a Kumaoni, but I was born in Delhi. I go to Haldwani in summers for a month as my granny's there. That was the reason why I didn't post for a long time here.
